Eddie Perkins

Eddie Perkins asked for a total exemption to a local tribunal stating: “I am against all war and I cannot conscientiously undertake any form of military service nor can I assent to my civic occupation becoming  contribution to the organization of a nation when engaged in war.” On 16 March 1916, he was granted a total exemption, but the military representative appealed because of “tracery to civic duty, political reasons”. On 28 March 1916, the appeal tribunal granted him exemption from combatant service only.
